Ward was a born in MonroeLouisianaonApril 151976. Monroe Christian School is a Christian-only private school for children of all ages. She was a student at Ouachita High School to complete her secondary studies. She then transferred into River Oaks High School after the school year ended. Following her graduation, Ward briefly studied at Northeast Louisiana University. Ward quit school at 13 and moved in New York so that she could begin modeling. She decided to try acting after a couple of years. Her first role was uncredited in 1970s in the soap-opera All My Children. Later she was cast on NBC's short-lived prime-time teen drama Malibu Shores. In the year 1996, Ward was cast in the role of Meg Cummings on Sunset Beach.
